Uruguay, located in South America, is officially known as the Oriental Republic of Uruguay. The economy of Uruguay is agricultural based and more stable than the nearby countries. It is a member of the Cairns Group of exporters of agricultural products. Diverse and good quality of rice is produced and the national company Saman is reported to be the key exporter in Latin America. As indicated by Transparency International, it is the least corrupt nation in Latin America. Main industries of Uruguay include: food processing, transportation equipment, petroleum products, electrical machinery, chemicals, textiles and beverages. |
